LIBERTY MINISTRIES TIMELINE

Liberty Ministries became a non-profit religious organization in 1980. More than 27 years later, it is amazing to see how far we have come since the beginning. View our timeline to see how God has enabled our ministry to progress over the years. Click to view.

PRISON MINISTRY

Charles NessLiberty Ministries was established in 1980 to serve the prison communities of Montgomery County Correctional Facility and the State Correctional Institution at Graterford. Since that time, Liberty Ministries has positively impacted thousands of men and women prisoners and ex-prisoners with the teaching of the Word of God, spiritual, physical and emotional support, and the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

Over 100 volunteers visit men and women in prison on a monthly basis teaching, training, mentoring, and preparing men and women for life outside of prison.

LIFE IN THE PROGRAM

Offering the message of grace, hope, and renewal through the love of Jesus Christ to prisoners and ex-prisoners.

The men in the Liberty House program have a full schedule of weekly activities during the nine month program. Bible studies are conducted throughout the week by volunteers and staff. A Biblical foundation is a key factor in the success of our program.

The men have assigned duties that must be completed daily. Helping with preparation and clean-up after the evening meal is one activity that eveyone participates in. After the meal, the men have time for lively discussions.

Liberty House includes a recently remodeled laundry facility with washers, dryers and ironing equipment for the men to manage their personal laundry needs.

Computers are available for the residents of Liberty House to learn computer skills, do word-processing and participate in interactive training programs. VCRs and DVD players are also available for training as well as occasional entertainment.

“the spirit of the Lord is upon me...to proclaim liberty to the prisoners.” -Luke 4:18
